Is my college search worth all of this stress?
So my mom expects that I’m getting into Stanford, but I don’t think they’ll be too impressed with my application, at least compared to everyone else who will be applying. It would be awesome to go there, but would my life really be worse if I just went to the University of Washington or something?
No. What really matters is what graduate school you go to. For the rest of your life, that’s what people will be saying- “He got his M.A. at XXX U.” or “His Ph.D. is from X.” U of Wash is a perfectly good school. If you do well, you can get into the same graduate schools you’d get into from Stanford.
Tell your Mom to chill.
