*For college students only Please* Advantages and disadvantages of private and public Colleges and University?
I’m in high school and I’m trying to figure out what kind of schooling I would like. Any info you have on this would be greatly appreciated.
Private schools tend to be smaller (but they aren’t always – Cornell is a large private university) and have smaller class sizes. That means you’re more likely to get the classes you need when you need them, and you’ll have fewer students in each class, so more of the professor’s time. However, that’s more likely at a liberal arts college than a university. At large Universities, many classes are actually taught by graduate students, not professors. If you want classes taught by the experts, you’re more likely to get that at a smaller college where they don’t have grad students, and most of those are private schools.
But cost is also a factor; most private colleges cost more than public schools. However, they also tend to give out a lot more in scholarships – I went to a private college because with scholarships they offered, it would have cost the same as a state school, but was a much better school than the state school.
